Bystrice

The village Bystrice was founded as a princely village in the latter half of 14th century. The first historical mention dates back to 4 May 1423. The development of the village was influenced in particulary by agriculture and pasturage and later on by ironworks in Třinec. Bystrice is typical foothills village. A part of its development is spread all over the hillside and the narrow valleys. The residential buildings come from 19th and 20th century. The original wooden dwellings in the settlement Paseky has recently changed into recreational cottages. Bystrice lies on a main traffic artery (railway Bohumin-Zilina and international motor road E 75), 5 km far from the industrial town Trinec at the confluence of three rivers Olse, Hluchova and Kopytna. The village Bystrice is sourrounded by gradual and rounded peaks of the Beskydy mountains such as Cantorije, Javorovy, Ostry and Kozubova. The mountain stream Hluchova rises below Stozek. The stream has as clean and cold water as trouts and crayfish have good living conditions in it. You may catch sight of otter - the rare species there. There have been six weirs built on the river Hlochova whereunder you can pleasently refresh yourselves by swimming. At the sourrouding of Bystrice there are several interesting marked paths for hiking. Velka Cantoryje (994m) with a beautiful view of the valley at the river Wisla in Poland dominates the valley in the east. If you set out in the direction of the south you can pass through Paseky settlement to Filipka (762 m), Velky Stozek (978 m) and then you can go through Bahenec down to Pisek and Jablunkov. In the direction of the east there is a possibility to climb over Kozinec or Kosariska up to Ostry mountain (1044 m) which continues by its ridge in the mountain range of the Moravian-Silesian Beskydy. All of the tourist paths are well marked and most of their legs are suitable not only for hiking but also for biking and cross-country skiing in winter. The domination of the village Bystrice is formed by two churches, which are preseved cultural landmarks. A beautiful period wooden Catholic Church of the Elevation of St. Cross comes from 16th century. The Evangelic Church was built in 1811 but its tower was added later, after 1848. The building of the present Primary School where Polish language is taught was contructed in 1898 and the building of the Czech Primary School in 1927.
